Star Wars Celebration Day Cebu 2023 | May the 4th be with you

 

May the 4th, also known as Star Wars Day, is a special day for fans of the epic space opera franchise created by George Lucas. 

It is a day when fans can come together to celebrate their love for Star Wars in all its forms, from films to books, TV shows, comics, video games, and more. It is an event celebrated around the world every year on May 4. And of course, our beloved Queen City of the South has its own way of celebrating Star Wars Day, and that is none other than celebrating what makes Star Wars iconic: the lightsaber. 

Held at Ayala Malls Central Bloc Cebu, fans of the franchise gathered together to celebrate Star Wars Day, hosted by the local group Cebu Sabersturm Academy. The day begins with a lightsaber workshop, where fans of all skill levels can learn the basics of lightsaber combat. Experienced instructors with varying backgrounds such as Kendo, Fencing, and HEMA will teach you the proper techniques for wielding a lightsaber, including footwork, strikes, and defensive maneuvers. You'll have the chance to practice your skills in a safe and supportive environment, surrounded by other fans who share your passion for the franchise. 

After the workshops, came the lightsaber tournament. This is where the most skilled lightsaber fighters in the galaxy come to compete, showcasing their mastery of the weapon in a series of one-on-one duels. The tournament is a thrilling spectacle, with fans cheering on their favorite competitors and marveling at their incredible skills.

In addition to the lightsaber tournament and training sessions, Star Wars Celebration Day also features a variety of toy collectors showcasing their replica lightsabers, custom lightsabers, and other Star Wars merchandise, there is also another lightsaber-centric activity at Star Wars Celebration Day. Such as the beat saber booth wherein, even if one doesn't own a lightsaber, or is part of the lightsaber training or tournament, one gets to feel one with the force with this saber game.
