Hippochii X Arcane: The Beauty in Blue

We, the Cebu X Geeks, woke up one day to discover the whole Philippines was somehow painted blue!
We were confused at first, but there was just so much beauty in all of it that we were more intrigued instead. In our search for answers, we somehow managed to get in touch with one of the key figures involved in this whole fiasco, and we had a key correspondent interview her.
Upon our correspondent’s return, we sadly found the audio files corrupted a bit on our end.
We did our best to transcribe everything to preserve the information as best we could.
Here’s how it went…
Mykl (M): Hello! May you introduce yourself, please
Hippochii: Hello, I am Hippochii, a Manila-based cosplayer. I do a lot of makeup transformations, and I’m also a content creator as well.
M: How did you get into cosplay?
Hippochii: I got into cosplay because I wanted to be somebody that’s not myself. Cosplay became my escape from reality, and I enjoyed it. I used to be so shy when I was younger, so I wanted to fit in this world somehow by living a life that’s not me as a shy kid.
Cosplaying allows me to be another character and live a life that’s far from real. Whenever I’m that different character, I become more confident, and because I had to become confident as that character, I ended up becoming more confident in real life too.
So yeah, I have to thank my younger self for deciding to cosplay all those years ago.
M: What has been the most challenging cosplay project that you have worked on?
Hippochii: For me, it has to be the Arcane project - the Jinx costume. ‘Cuz like, the Jinx costume is, as the younger kids call it, “homeless couture”. The thing is, I believe that all my costumes should be perfect in terms of quality and how clean they look. The Jinx costume went against that belief.
The costume had to have grease, wear and tear, damage… the costume could only become perfect once it had imperfections.
But because of my love for the show, Arcane, working on the cosplay allowed me to express my emotions, and I loved it. I spent days just focusing on all the little details on the costume and the guns.
It was difficult because I had to pretend that I knew what I was doing. I ended up pretending all the way until it was done somehow haha
M: Speaking of Arcane, do you Play League of Legends?
Hippochii: I did! I was actually a player when the game was relatively new. Like, I think I started when Evelynn was just released.
I liked playing champions like Caitlyn, but I was so bad at ADR that I would lose most of my games back then whenever I was the ADR hahaha
It’s also because of this that I hated Jinx back then. I loved ADRs like Jinx and Caitlyn, but I would mostly lose as them, so it was a love-hate relationship.
M: You mentioned Jinx so, how did you get into this “Paint the Town Blue” project?
Hippochii: Okay, so, the project is a movement to welcome the Arcane Season 2 trailer. It was surreal to me when I checked my X inbox one day to find out that I was chosen to be part of the project.
I immediately wanted to put the concept to life by inviting other personalities to join in and just paint everything blue.
M: So, what is your favorite scene from Arcane Season 1 though?
Hippochii: I liked everything equally! Kidding. My favorite scene would have to be Ekko VS Jinx at the bridge.
I kept seeing Tiktoks of the scene and because of those videos, I finally made the decision to cosplay Jinx.
M: Aside from your favorite scene, what are the things you like about Arcane exactly?
Hippochii: I absolutely love the art style. It’s so different from other animated shows that it sets itself apart. I love all the plot twists and turns. I love the fact that they don’t make the characters distinctly just black or just white. Each character has their motivations and struggles. No one is simply just a villain or a hero.
I ultimately love the fact that the story is from their past to their present. The show told a wonderful story about how each character was impacted by their past and what they went through.
M: And for my last question, what are your expectations and predictions for Arcane Season 2?
Hippochii: I predict that I have to schedule a session with my therapist right after watching everything hahaha
That aside, I really just want the “Time Bomb” Ekko X Jinx ship to sail.
...And that’s all we could gather. The Philippines seems fine again for now, but it’s only a matter of time until the whole world is perfectly painted in blue.
If you want to know more, we recommend following Hippochii on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X.
You can also watch the whole interview here. We hope the audio isn’t corrupted for you.
Remember: the finale is coming, and we can only hope you’re ready for what Arcane has in store.
