$%&#! OFF! I'm Meeting Gordon Ramsay

Today was definitely an experience I will never forget, for it was something that will probably never happen again in my entire life time. Let me tell you about how I, Aussie-buano, came to meet the audacious and feisty Chef Gordon Ramsay. Yesterday, a friend of mine sent this particular event page to our group chat in Messenger. To my surprise, it was a meet up with an infamous gourmet chef.

You heard it right, the chef who is very vocal in expressing his thoughts and spices it up with your not-so-average profanity. Chef Gordon Ramsay. He is known for a lot of cooking shows namely: MasterChef, Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, and Hotel Hell. See what they did there?

Back to what I was saying... The venue is in Australia and had to be in Bondi of all places. It's quite far, but definitely within New South Wales.

So I checked the event page whether it was legit or not. I even checked the official page of Westfield Bondi Junction to confirm if the event was green lit.

After clarifying that it was indeed the real deal, I was trembling in excitement that I thought about actually going to the event despite the distance and the amount I'll be paying for the experience.

Later that day, I had a chat with my sister about the event and she said she'll shoulder the payment as her gift for my upcoming birthday. I was kinda hesitant at first, but I thought about it...

"This might be my only chance to meet THE CHEF Gordon Ramsay in my entire lifetime."

I'm like "Fck it, I'll grab the chance that my sister has given me!"

During the evening, I made sure to prepare my essentials (3 bottles of water, biscuits, and rice for lunch), an itinerary of my trip to Bondi (bus and train schedules) and made sure that the ones I picked would ensure me an early arrival of before 8:00 am.

FAST FORWARD TO TODAY

I woke up at 5:00 am, exactly as my alarm rang. I rode the 6:30 am bus from my place, then rode the 6:45 am train to Wolli Creek, and then rode the 7:30 am train to Bondi Junction and arrived at 8:10am. The selling of the packs was at 10:30 am, so I've had plenty of time to spare.

BUT I WAS DEAD WRONG!

As soon as I went to the said pop up shop near Dior, it was already packed with people! My heart seemed to lose hope, but I didn't waver. I rushed to the end of the line and asked one of the ushers if there were already 300 people and fortunately he said there were only about a 100 something.

I stood in line for about 2 hours before they started selling the packs containing a signed copy of Chef Ramsay's new book called "Gordon Ramsay's Ultimate Fit Food" and a Royal Doulton Union Street 28cm serving bowl. Everyone was definitely hyping then, including the girls who were in front and behind me. They were definitely fan girls, I tell ya.

An hour later, the emcee increased the hype that was going on by calling over the man himself, Chef Gordon Ramsay, on stage! Everyone in the area were screaming, just as anyone would if they see their idols on stage. It was time the feisty chef started having his photos taken. Fast forward to my time on stage with him.

I pranced forward, anxious of even shaking his hand, but his cheeky but welcoming smile calmed me a bit. So we went to having a small conversation, due to the time constraints.

G: "Good day, how are you?"
A: "I'm all good, thank you!"
G: "What's your name?"
A: "Jake" (I'm starting to get overwhelmed at this point)
G: "What do you do for a living?"
A: "I cook a lot at home!" (This is where I finally snapped!)
G: "That's awesome!"

Then we proceeded to having our photo. Our convo was short for sure, but I made sure to remember the grip of his hand shake. Would it be an exaggeration if I said I wouldn't be washing my hands for a while?

Overall, how you see him in television is exactly how he is in person, minus all the profanity. But I would have asked him to roast me with his mad lines, but that would probably take a while and can cause issues.

I would like to thank my friend for letting me know about the event and my sisters for this very awesome once in a lifetime birthday present!
