Online Graphic Design Software: How To Make Awesome Graphics Without Photoshop

How To Make Awesome Graphics Without Photoshop

Do you want to make your own graphics with words (quotes) that you can share on Facebook, Tumblr, or for your blog but you don't have Photoshop, you don't know how to use any graphic design software, or your machine can't handle these resource intensive applications?

Well, there is no need to worry as there are online graphic design tools that you can use for free and can help you create professional looking graphics.

There are a lot of free online graphic tools out there, but some of them will add their watermark or logo on the output, which, I'm guessing, most of you do not want.

In this blog post, I'm going to share with you different kind of graphic makers, which I personally love and I'm sure you will too.

1. Wigflip - Toys and Tools for the Web

Wigflip is a collection of different graphic generators. The site offers various tools to help make your online life much easier and fun at the same time. They have a tool where you can create virtual sticky notes, animated text icon, animated Super Mario Brothers text screen generator, tiny tags, animated LED signs, make your own street sign, motivational or demotivational posters, and meme with text icon.

My favorite is the Wigflip Speech Bubble Maker. You can create classic gaming inspired speech bubbles using this tool. It is very easy to use and you can download the graphic on your computer or upload it directly to your imgur account. This is perfect for your geeky thoughts/quotes.

2. Quotes Cover

Have you noticed those square quotes shared by your friends on Tumblr or Facebook? If ever you want to make your own graphic for your favorite quotes from books, famous people or your own, the Quotes Cover application will make the whole process very easy and fun. I have a confession. I am addicted to this tool and has been using it for the graphics on some of my blog posts.

Just like Wigflip, Quotes Cover offers a collection of graphic tools but they are more focused on adding words to your graphics. You can make Facebook/Google+ timeline covers, wallpapers for various devices, posters optimized for printing, and picture messages or e-cards.

Their Facebook timeline cover generator and square quote maker are my favorites. They have nice color presets for background images. You also have the option to blur the background image. If you want to use plain text and a colored background, you can click the font and a color combination control until you find something that suits your taste.

See sample outputs below.

3. Behappy.me Quote Generator

This is a similar application to Quotes Cover but has much simpler interface and lesser options. You can add smileys and other predefined small icons but you can't upload your own background.

4. Pixlr

At some point in your life, you would want to make a collage. There are a lot of online collage maker available but the Pixlr Express Collage Maker particularly stands out for me because of the many options it offer and the interface is very clean and intuitive.

Pixlr is actually a set of three online photo editors. Pixlr Editor is like an online version of Photoshop. Pixlr Express offers more than 600 effects, border, and overlays to pimp your photos. Pixlr O-Matic is like a web version of Instagram filters for you can easily add retro or vintage effects to your pictures.

5. PicMonkey

PicMonkey, just like Pixlr Express, offers different kinds of frames, textures, and effects to enhance your images. It also allows you to add text and adjust your image settings such as size ans sharpness. If you fancy giving yourself a virtual make over, PicMonkey has a touch up option which enables you to add make up to your photographs. The only drawback of this app is that some of the features are not available for free users.

6. Rollip Online Photo Editor

Another photo editor with fun overlays and effects that makes very girly pictures.

These 6 tools are the applications I frequently use. Basically, these 6 are my favorites but there are still other graphic creators you might want to try for yourself.

7. PicFull - Very basic photo editor with basic effect presets. Notable feature is the crazy mirror equivalent to that of the liquify effect in Photoshop.

8. Graffiti Creator - If you are bored and want to pimp your name, this is a fun tool.

9. Wordle - Basic word cloud creator. Comes in 6 predefined layout. Very easy to use.

10. Tagxedo - Advanced word cloud creator that support shapes.
