On September 20, 2025, Cebu’s LARP community stepped into the unknown as MainQuest Cebu brought The Eldritch Gala to life inside Hostel Hoeycomb.
For one unforgettable evening, the hostel became a realm of elegance and mystery, blending immersion and interactive quests that pulled guests deep into a story of otherworldly intrigue.
Building on the success of earlier MainQuest “DLCs”: Tavern Tales, Magik Konclave, and Moonlit Walk, the team staged its most ambitious production to date: The Eldritch Gala. Attendees arrived in elaborate costumes. From the first moment, lights and layered soundscapes transformed the venue into a place that felt both sophisticated and unsettling, as if the hostel itself had slipped into another dimension.
The event opened with a free-entry fantasy bazaar during the afternoon, where local artisans and merchants offered handcrafted props, accessories, and themed items. Even guests without gala tickets wandered through the stalls, admiring wares that ranged from mystical jewelry to spell-book journals.
The bazaar set the tone for the night, inviting everyone to taste a little magic before the main story began. Visitors mingled with costumed characters who hinted at quests yet to unfold, blurring the line between vendor and performer.
As twilight deepened, ticket holders moved indoors for the heart of the experience. Music mixed with dramatic performances as costumed non-player characters invited guests into quests and secret conversations. Some participants followed clues through hallways; others danced beneath the night sky and swirling lights in the hostel’s courtyard. Everywhere, guests found themselves part of an unfolding narrative about ancient powers and the thin line between dreams and reality.
Behind the spectacle was a thriving creative community. The gala showcased Cebu’s growing network of makers, performers, and role-players. Veterans of past MainQuest events recognized familiar faces, while newcomers discovered a welcoming entry point into live-action role-play.
Organizers said months of planning went into weaving the story and coordinating performers so that every guest, whether shy observer or bold adventurer, could shape their own path through the evening. The result was an event that felt at once spontaneous and carefully choreographed.
Though the Eldritch Gala has passed, the memories linger like the echo of an ancient spell. Photos and stories have since filled social media. For many, it was more than a party; it was proof that Cebu’s creative LARP scene is gradually growing.
With each new “quest,” MainQuest Cebu continues to expand its world, and fans are already watching for clues about the next adventure.
