Just got the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (a.k.a Windows 10 version 1709) last week. Huzzah!
I've never been the type of person who gets excited about Operating System updates (I only use my computer to access Chrome) but I'm glad I took the time to read the release notes.
Microsoft released some nifty little enhancements that both content creators and regular PC users will love.
1. Use emoji everywhere. No add-on required! 👌😍✨

1. Use emoji everywhere. No add-on required! 👌😍✨
Express yourself with emoji wherever you want as it is now integrated within the Windows system. Be it in a conversation, a document, a blog post, an email, or even a web search 😎
Simply press the Windows logo key + period (.) to launch the emoji panel.
*Caveat: This update applies to English (US) input only and you have to relaunch the emoji panel if you want to use multiple emojis in a single post.
2. Pin Skype contacts in your task bar
Save yourself a few clicks and pin your most important contacts right in your task bar. You can immediately check notifications, send messages, or make a call to your favorite contacts even without launching Skype!
To start pinning contacts, click on the People icon > Find and pin contacts, then choose a contact to pin.
A single click on your contact's profile icon reveals a conversation window that seamlessly floats from any open desktop window.
We mostly use Google Hangouts and Facebook Messenger. I only have one Skype contact. Hence, I often miss his messages since I rarely check Skype and I don't have plans on launching it during startup. This update is quite useful for me.
3. OneDrive Files On-Demand
I've had my Microsoft account since college and I want to keep using it, but I have a lot of files I don't need to sync on my hard drive. With Files On-Demand enabled, I would be able to see all my files in Explorer and get new information about each file without taking up space.
I can also explicitly mark which files I want to be always available on each of my devices even when offline.
Learn about OneDrive Files On-Demand here.
4. Smarter Photos software
If you take a crazy amount of photos and videos, Windows 10's built in program for viewing and editing pictures is now packed with intelligent features that will help you make videos with minimal effort. From sorting, to editing, up until publishing!
Machine learning integrated
Sorting photos can be a pain sometimes. With Photos, you can just import all your files / clips and the software will group them by date and suggest groupings by theme / relevance (e.g. group all beach photos, smiling faces) in your behalf. It can even detect all photos for a specific person.
Photos have been updated with machine learning and artificial intelligence to help identify and tag your photos based on their content. However, it could take a while before these awesome A.I. actions take effect.
Tools for content creators
You can let Photos automatically create a picture slideshow for you or you can go hands-on. It has all the essential features you need to stitch together photos, video, and audio. Heck, you can even add 3D effects!
✔ Filters
✔ Re-arrange timeline
✔ Trim video clips
✔ Add title or caption
✔ Add camera motion
✔ 3D effects
These are just some of the really cool features of Windows 10. There are a lot more features from the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update not covered in my post but you can find them here.
