#NowOpen: Three of Cebu’s Top Restaurants at SM Hypermarket Cebu

A-One Tinola ug Sugba, Conching's Native Chicken, and Cebu Lechon Belly - three powerhouse names when it comes to Cebuano dining come together at SM Hypermarket Cebu parking area. Locals and tourists alike can now enjoy the mouth-watering dishes of Cebu’s top food places at a very convenient location.

I’ve always liked the Hypermarket concept of SM. By marrying the supermarket and the department store, busy people like me can spend less time shopping for groceries, clothes, home essentials and even furnitures! And staying true to their promise to bring consumers a holistic shopping experience, shoppers no longer need to transfer to another location just to have dinner or to satisfy their cravings for great Cebuano food. SM Hypermarket is now also a place where people could taste the most delicious food Cebu has to offer!

With just a visit at SM Hypermarket, you can now indulge in the traditional taste of Conching's native lechon manok that takes you back to your childhood visits in the province, the freshly grilled seafoods of A-One, and the innovative "super lechon" of Cebu Lechon Belly.

Cebu Lechon Belly struggled a little as it went up against traditional greats but, eventually, people started to discover them and become instant fans of their lechon. Today, Cebu Lechon Belly has over 30 branches nationwide and they were the first Cebu based lechon business to ever reach Metro Manila.

I've always been a fan of the original Cebu lechon belly and definitely agree with it being one of Cebu's best but I have not tried A-One and Conching's until the grand opening to be honest (though I frequently hear about them). Let me tell you about my experience...

The moment I arrived at SM Hypermarket Cebu parking area, I was immediately captivated by a very familiar and delicious smell - the smell of lemon grass and soy sauce over charcoal. Turns out to be Conching's best-selling native lechon manok. Taste wise? Certified delicious!

Conching's has been in the BBQ business since 1968 but, back then, it was just a small ihaw-ihaw stall selling only pork and chicken BBQ. But because it has such a unique taste, Conching’s native chicken has been selling hot since day one. It's one of the most popular food destinations of tourists, local residents and even renowned politicians and top celebrities.

Aside from the grilled native whole chicken, Conching's menu has expanded to include crabmeat, pochero, and balbacua.

Last stop is A-One Tinola ug Sugba. The branch manager was very warm and accommodating. We had a feast there!

Among the three, A-One is my favorite because everything tasted fresh. On top of that, I felt like I was dining in the sea side with the gentle sea breeze touching my skin. It's not just the food, but the overall experience. I highly recommend their imbao.

What started as streetfood selling grilled items and tinola at Pier Tres is now one of the most popular restaurants in Cebu. They got their name simply because their old stall was located in front of a lumber store called A-One lumber and their customers started to refer to them as A-One. Since then, A-One Tinola ug Sinugba has been Cebu’s number one destination when it comes to flavorful fish tinola and anything cooked over hot coals. Originally owned by a fisherman and his wife, they sold only the freshest catch from the sea grilled to perfection.
SM Hypermarket Cebu is located in Logarta Avenue, Subangdaku, Mandaue Cebu City and is open from 8:00AM – 9:00PM.
