What Happened During Best Cebu Bloggers Awards 2013 Awards Night

Being away from the four corners of the corporate world is like freedom for many, but with that freedom comes no company Christmas parties and other company hosted social events. However, this does not mean that people who work at home need to sulk and get jealous, there are lots of social activities one can do.

If you would ask me what are this year's highlights for me are? Well, one of them is actively engaging with Cebu communities, from bloggers to Google geeks. I made tons of awesome new friends this year.

Another highlight for this year is that I got nominated for Best Cebu Blog Awards. For the record, I didn't win but I got to eat free delicious food during the awards night plus a 100 pesos worth of Jollibee gift certificate. Counting my blessings. :D

The event's host was Rabsin of Finlust who was very energetic and funny. BCBA 2013 was held last December 7 at Avalon Building, Cebu Business Park.

I apologize for the crappy photos. I have now an awesome digital camera, but I attended another event prior to BCBA awards night so my hands were very tired. That's dedication. LOL.

I won on one of Rab's blog giveaways, but we weren't able to formally introduce ourselves until BCBA night since I was undergoing treatment during that time. It's been like 10 months. Wow.

Before the program officially started, I made new friends again - food bloggers JM of My Tasteful Life and Z of FTW! Food, Travel and Whatevs.

The event was opened by organizers Mark Monta and Bjorn Bernales. I can't remember who gave the opening remark and who led the opening prayer.

My beautiful and sexy friend, Roxanne, came in late. Blame it on the Christmas rush. Look at those lips.

Special Awards

Greenwhich Favorite ng Barkada Award went to Edwin Castillon for gaining the highest score among the best Cebu bloggers by niche.

The winners and organizers.
Edwin was definitely the light of the party. He won on all three awards! Lucky guy. During his speech for best travel blogger, he just said "I'm going to win the Samsung S4", or something like that. Good thing he didn't because that would be a real bummer. Haha. Everyone was hoping to win the S4. Who wouldn't want an awesome new phone?

The event closed with Mary Angeli Bas of Foodie Craft, last year's overall winner, giving her inspirational message. She explained in her speech that food blogging is not easy. You would think that being invited to various places just to eat is pure fun, but she shared things like being obligated to taste food that doesn't look appealing, with vegetables you don't like, or having to wait and take food pictures despite feeling really hungry.

I truly understand the waiting part. In the past, I used to take pictures first before eating, but when you are really hungry, no matter how beautiful the presentation is you must stop the urge to take pictures and just enjoy the food and satisfy your hunger. This isn't for yourself only, but for your companions too.

It was a rather short event, but the most enjoyable part was when the event ended. I had lots of fun chatting with the rest of the bloggers I already know.

Proof that we were there. LOL
