What I Know of Regghie M. Orpiada (@RegghieOrpiada): An Investigation

I love to play detective so I tried my best to find out more about this Twitter user Regghie M. Orpiada (@RegghieOrpiada).

For those who don't know, this Twitter account suddenly gained the spotlight because of the racy comments made for victims of typhoon Yolanda, particularly the Roman Catholics.

The user claims to be a member of Iglesia ni Cristo and his actions has enraged many netizens which in return has given a bad PR for Iglesia ni Cristo.

For the record, I am a 100% Roman Catholic. I am personally offended by his remarks but I also worry for our brothers and sisters in Iglesia ni Cristo for I believe in one God and that there is no religion that can truly saves us.

So I did some investigations to verify if that account was made to promote bad publicity for the Iglesia ni Cristo.

Blogger James Bang of James Bang Files has these to say:

Reason 1:

"As you can see in above picture, you will see that Mr Orplada posted a photo showing the INC temple standing strong despite being hit by the strong Typhoon Yolanda. If you will notice, The photo includes the words " Iglesia Ni Manalo ". If Regghie M. Orplada is a member of INC, why would he posted such picture calling his religion Iglesia ni Manalo? This is a clear statement that Mr. Orplada is just ruining the reputation of INC."

Reason 2:

"On November 3, Mr Regghie Mendoza Orpiada posted in his Facebook account that he is at the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help (Baclaran Church )."

Based on James findings, we can say that Regghie may not be a real member of Iglesia ni Kristo and is only using Twitter to promote hate.

Here are some other things I found.

First, I tried to checked if Regghie's Twitter account is a fake (spam account). Having worked in the internet marketing industry, I know how rampant fake Twitter users are.

The account seems to be legit as it is very active in terms of number of Tweets sent before typhoon Yolanda hit Philippine shores. One thing I can't authenticate is if he really is what he say he is.

I noticed that there is another account that is also spreading malicious comments as Regghie using the name Arcan Ville (@arcanvilIe) and this so called Regghie constantly retweets his Tweets. I guess to show everyone that somebody supports his allegations.

Now this is the interesting part.

This Arcan Ville account is a REAL POSER! All Caps for emphasis!

The poser Arcan Ville Twitter handle is spelled as A R C A N V I L I E while the real account which is now deleted by the real Arcan Ville is spelled as A R C A N V I L L E.

Noticed the difference? Here is another shocking evidence thanks to Google.

If you look at also the first tweet of the poser account, it is quite obvious that it is a spam account.

Notice also that the poser Arcan Ville Twitter account got active only on November 11, 2013!

Reason 3

It seems to me that this self proclaimed true Iglesia ni Cristo Regghie is using a poser Twitter account to boost his malicious comments so that people would think he is not the only 1 with the same twisted mindset. However, for all we know, it might be that both Twitter accounts are being managed by the same person or group of persons.

EDIT (11-14-2013)

Based on the screenshot below, the Arcan Ville poser account have a knack of stealing Foursquare check-ins. I didn't realize how easy it is by simply copying-and-pasting the check-in tweet.

I don't know where this detective thing has led me. We shouldn't make conclusions based on these things that I have uncovered.

Again, my original purpose was to find out if Regghie is a fake and to encourage Catholics and other religious sect to stop criticizing INC because of one Twitter user.

From this point on, everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

UPDATE: The Twitter account of the real Regghie Orpiada is @redgeontherocks and they claim that @RegghieOrpiada is a poser.

Several users of the forum site Missosology (popular digital hangout for gays) commented that they personally knew Regghie and verified that he is being personally attacked by the poser.
